RRC’s mission is to promote physical, mental, and social wellness in adults and young people of all backgrounds, using the sport of rowing and related educational programs, in an environment that nurtures development of character, strength of commitment and passion for excellence. All of RRC’s activities are operated in a manner designed to accomplish this mission.

Structure of the Rochester Rowing Club

RRC is a 501(c)(3) Minnesota not-for-profit organization that offers a variety of recreational and competitive rowing programs to youth and adults from Rochester and the surrounding area. RRC is led by a volunteer board of directors and a part-time head coach. RRC is not a membership organization, meaning rowers and their parents are participants—like students at a school—but do not elect the leadership. RRC is funded by a combination of participation fees, donations, and other revenue.

Assistant Coach Job Description

The Rochester Rowing Club (MN) is seeking an Assistant Coach for Junior and Adult team practices. The assistant coach will work with the head coach to coordinate rowing, training, and competitive programs and activities. Assistant Coach is paid per practice.

Rowing experience and prior coaching experience preferred, but not required

Assistant Coach will have the opportunity to learn/gain experience under the current Head Coach, rowing specific training opportunities available.

Candidates must satisfactorily complete a background check, SafeSport training and boat safety certification.

Operations Manager Job Description

Status: Part-Time (avg 5-10 hours/week)
Reports to: Board of Director President
Location: Rochester, Minnesota

Position Overview

The Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of RRC, supporting the successful delivery of youth and adult rowing programs. This role coordinates events, manages administrative and financial functions, to execute the Board directives. The Operations Manager fosters an organized, efficient, and welcoming environment that supports member-athletes and their families while strengthening overall club performance.

Key Responsibilities – Program & Operations Management
  • Oversee routine daily operations of all rowing programs (youth & adult)
  • Use Boathouse Connect to track RRC membership, waivers, payments and seasonal group enrollment
  • Assist coaches with equipment tracking, insurance, maintenance, and service
  • Attend monthly board meetings
  • Logistical support, such as lease management and scheduling, for facility operations including but not limited to: portable toilet reservations, winter practice reservations, shed/boathouse key distribution and tracking, and winter storage/return of equipment
Key Responsibilities – Youth & Adult Program Support
  • Serve as contact for parents, youth and adult rowers
  • Assist with onboarding, paperwork, and waivers
  • Coordinate Varsity letter applications with schools and awards for Spring Banquet
  • Ensure safety and compliance with club and rowing regulations
  • Track and execute calendar of events, ensuring on-time scheduling and booking, for example, season start/end dates, Learn-To-Row, MN Power Pull, regatta logistics
Key Responsibilities – Travel & Regatta Coordination
  • Assist coaches and volunteers in planning local, regional, and national regatta travel
  • Arrange transportation of boats and coach lodging, hotel block for regattas
  • Work with coaches to communicate travel details in a timely manner
Administrative & Financial Management
  • Manage deposits, bill payments, reimbursements
  • Collaborate with the Treasurer to oversee expense tracking and ensure adherence to the Board-approved budget
  • Manage licensing and insurance for trailers/boats
  • Maintain records for membership, registration, and fees
Communications & Membership Support
  • Assist with newsletters and communication updates
  • Maintain website and social media (as applicable)
  • Respond to member inquiries
  • Assist with membership renewals and tracking
Qualifications – Required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Basic bookkeeping or administrative experience
  • Comfortable working with youth and adult athletes
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and management tools
  • Pass background check, complete Safe Sport
Qualifications – Preferred but Not Required
  • Background in rowing (athlete, coach, parent volunteer, administrator)
  • Experience with travel or event coordination
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or membership operations
  • Knowledge of regatta platforms (RegattaCentral, HereNow)
  • Ability to learn management software: Boathouse Connect, US Rowing portal
